Description
I’m always frustrated when I share a track to Instagram from Audius and it automatically selects the beginning of the song. Often, the most impactful or catchy part is later in the track, and I want to control what section gets previewed. Additionally, there’s no easy way for others to access the full song—there’s no clickable link in the post or story, which limits discoverability and engagement.
Describe the solution you’d like.
I’d like the ability to choose which part of the track (e.g., chorus, hook, or drop) is used for Instagram sharing—either by selecting a time range or scrubbing through the waveform. Also, when a track is shared to Instagram, there should be an option to include a clickable link (in bio, story, or post caption) that takes viewers directly to the track on Audius.
Describe alternatives you’ve considered.
I’ve considered manually trimming audio or screen recording the desired segment, then uploading it separately to Instagram, but this adds extra steps and doesn’t allow for seamless sharing or proper track attribution. For the link, I’ve tried adding it manually in my bio or comments, but it’s clunky and not always clickable.
Additional context
This feature would help artists and curators better promote their music and drive traffic back to Audius. It aligns with common social sharing practices on platforms like SoundCloud and Spotify that allow more flexible, linkable previews.
