Flat shading can be accomplished if the shader receives face normals (is that the right terminology?). I'm still unclear on what capabilities would be the most accurate, or how to implement them. Seems like it would have to be done in the fragment shader.

If I'm reading the spec correctly, flat shaded polygons don't seem to be affected by light.
