Fishing nets could have some kind of crab pot storage block that you fill with chum and it disperses the chum to each attached fishing net, and they collect items in accordance with the crab pot loot tables? Maybe check if an attached storage has chum, and collect from the loot table while performing automatic fishing?
Or, potentially, some kind of multiblock crab cage lowered into the water for huge crab collection, but that would be an additional block for compat, instead of having one block for all kinds of fishing.
