Firmware does not compile with Arduino 1.6.5

Has this firmware been tested with the latest Arduino 1.6.5 IDE? I couldn't get it to compile from a fresh check-out, and I can't get Arduino 1.5.x to run on my system.
t managed to compile after making a lot of modifications to the code, but I'm not entirely sure if those modifications are without impact. Considering also the fact that the current installed version is 1.10.2 (Otter) and the version I just pulled from here is version 1.10 (Otter), I'm a bit nervous to brick the MX3 if I upload it.

I set up a virtual machine with Arduino 1.5.3-beta and it still won't compile. What is the status of the firmware code provided here? Is it tested?
