Touchpad pressure sensitivity not adjusting

Followed the instruction to change the touchpad pressure sensitivity but no luck with it actually going through.

The udevadm test I run after to verify show the pressure ranges as 13:75, even though I've changed the the ranges to 15:35 in the 99-touchpad-pressure.hwdb file.

I am on Ubuntu 18.04 with kernel 4.15 .

I can second that, it is just not working with the libinput version in ubuntu 18.04

18.10 release candidate came out today, installed and then put the followin under /etc/libinput/local-overrides.quirks

MatchUdevType=touchpad
MatchName=*ACPI0C50:00 18D1:5028 Touchpad
MatchDMIModalias=dmi:svnGoogle:pnEve
AttrPressureRange=10:5

then restart wayland (havent checked with X) and it should be fine (more info here: https://wayland.freedesktop.org/libinput/doc/latest//touchpad-pressure-debugging.html#touchpad-pressure-hwdb )

I can confirm that the local-overrides.quirks works on Fedora Rawhide (29) as well.

I happen to be using 15:10 and am quite happy with it.

Github messed with the code above. The exact contents of /etc/libinput/local-overrides.quirks should be:

MatchUdevType=touchpad
MatchName=*ACPI0C50:00 18D1:5028 Touchpad

AttrPressureRange=10:5

awesome! worked for me, 2017 i5 pixelbook, ubuntu 18.10

i just installed some gnome-shell updates:

gnome-shell
gnome-shell-common

and it broke my touchpad i believe. doesn't work at all now. i am though running a newer than ubuntu approved kernel (running current mainline kernel 5). on ubuntu 18.10.

will try ubuntu approved kernel next.

reverted to 4.18.0-16-generic and no joy. now what with touchpad?

ok, undid the pulse stuff and touchpad is back. i just did it all, didn't have time to go one by one but i will later.

ok, and at last, i re-up'd the gnome-shell packages and touchpad still good. i also issued apt-mark hold <...> on all the pulse stuff for now. so i'm good. i hope someone here can provide more insight than i can. thanks.
