Kual file shows a white screen

Hello

I have followed the installation guide for the Kindle 8th generation.
Everything worked great until writing ";log mrpi" and pressing enter.
Nothing happened.

I restarted, tried a few more times. I got the Amazon (box) logo appearing (not the same logo as on the tutorial).

And I do find Kual's "book" in my library. But every time I click on it, I get a white screen.
I have to restart my Kindle to go back to the welcome screen.

I have followed as well the troubleshooting steps, just in case it was that:

The installation of Update_KUALBooklet_hotfix_*_install.bin may fail if there is not enough free space on your Kindle. If you are using the “fill storage” method to block updates, make sure to free up some space before proceeding with these steps.

I have used 2,34 GB over 3,04 GB. Is it enough?

Verify the location of all the folders and files on the Kindle

Did it.

Try copying the Update_KUALBooklet_hotfix_*_install.bin file to the root of your Kindle when connected to your PC, and then go to Settings > Update Your Kindle, then resume from step 5

Did it as well.

Btw, now I also get a white screen when I want to check the settings. :-/

Step 4/7 only shows one file from the Kual folder to be added to the mrpackages.
But that folder contained more files, should I add all of them instead to mrpackages? And keep the hotfix one in the kindle root?

I did again the installing KUAL and MRPI steps.
This time ;log mrpi showed a success message.
But I still get a white screen when opening KUAL.

Having the same issue on my Kindle Colorsoft. A package briefly flashes when running ;log mrpi then white screen. After a few minutes, the library will appear again without any KUAL document. Retested multiple times, twice on a factory reset device. Seems to be an issue with KUAL Coplate but IDK where to find the github issues for that specific piece of firmware.

Thank you for this... so far its solved my problem with the ";log mrpi" step which was - like OP - absolutely nothing happened.

to further elaborate on one of the steps that I found very odd and not very clear (to me at least)::
on STEP 2/7 if you download the "Kual (Coplate) - For Kindles > K5, etc,etc " then go continue until you get to STEP 4/7's "Extracting/Copying KUAL" where you ignore the first instruction per "The above step does not apply if you downloaded KUAL (Coplate)" and so you go to the next instruction "Now, find the Update_KUALBooklet_*_install.bin file and copy it to your Kindle's mrpackages folder" <--- this step makes no sense because if you download KUAL(Coplate) you get a file called "Update_KUALBooklet_HDRepack.bin".

I just continued on like the tutorial said but wasnt very confident in anything working past that point cuz it just felt wrong... and the ";log mrpi" of course did abolutely nothing but show 0 files found in a handful of groups...
I started to look up if i could dissect the file but ended up aborting that mode of thought because up to this point the entire tutorial was so simple a small child could do it so I realized that wouldn't make any sense to all the sudden need some kind of programming skills for a single step in the tutorial.
Did all of the troubleshooting steps and NADA... still nothing..

So did i miss something? It's still bugging me a little bit that the name was "HDRepack.bin" instead of "(some_number)_install.bin"

I have run into bit of a snag tho,
on the "Disabling OTA Updates"
step 6/7::

Firmware >=5.11.x:
Open KUAL (Kindle Unified Application Launcher)
Select Rename OTA Binaries from the menu <---- I don't see this anywhere when inside KUAL
Select Rename
Your Kindle... etc..

but i'm still checking things out...
I'm hoping its brain farts.

something must have erased the zip folders contents from my Kindles extensions directory. (or i must have restarted the kindle after it didnt work and THAT may have erased the files..
i just started that section over. EDIT2::Start <-- ( rewording sentence)::: I just went back to step 1 in Disabling OTA Updates. ( i think that is clearer) EDIT2::END
Downloaded the renameotabin zip file.
unzipped the contents in Kindles extensions/ dir.
noticed that it put the folder renameotabin in extension/ directory instead of the CONTENTS.
fixed this..
then continued with tutorial... worked fine

I tried with PEKI but it still doesn't work. :-(
White screen again.
I will try again later by removing all the files and starting from scratch.

sorry but wdym? Are you completing the steps right?
When does it turn white? it only runs on your homescreen and does NOT draw anything large to the screen - are you sure you're not running ;log MRPI?

What I did to resolve this: Restart Kindle (with Airplane mode still on)
Then try ;log mrpi again.
