Get-DisplayHDR always returns true

Granted I am on 25H2, build 26200.7015, so something might have changed because this used to work.

I have one monitor capable of HDR, and no matter if it's on or off, Get-DisplayHDR always returns True.

Set-DisplayHDR 2 -EnableHDR:$false works as expected, letting me toggle it on or off, but even using this command Get-DisplayHDR remains always True.

Sounds weird. What does the output from Get-DisplayColorInfo 2 say? And what does the Windows settings menu report? AFAIK I use the same API that it uses to fetch this data so surely that would be wrong as well?

You say it used to work. How long ago was that?

I think I found the culprit. If "Automatically manage color for apps" is turned on under "System > Display > Color management", then Get-DisplayHDR always returns True.

I can simply disable the automatic color management and it works again. Sorry for not testing it thoroughly before submitting.

To be honest I am not exactly sure what the automatic color management does with my monitor specifically, but the HDR toggle inside the display settings and in the game overlay under gaming features always correctly reports whether HDR is on or off. My monitor's OSD doesn't have an obvious "HDR is on or off" label, but judging by the lack of settings being greyed out (unlike when I actually turn on HDR), automatic color management doesn't seem to turn HDR on, at least according to my monitor.

Thanks. I use the AdvancedColorEnabled property to determine whether or not HDR is enabled but I guess I need to look at some other property instead.
