hey, we've previously talked about this on irc.

Why I'd love this feature

I'd be able to remotely control MPD with Bluetooth.
And specifically i'd love to connect with BLE, which would allow to connect with bluetooth on low-end/embedded devices.

I think the best way for remote control (over bluetooth), would be to implement Bluetooth support into MPD itself, because running 6lowpan isn't that user friendly...

...But I may try to make my own and probably crappy implementation

Simple volume control and next/last track or including pairing and connecting?

Well i'd love to connect with mpc, and additionally to volume control and next/last track,
know which song plays with the file format (mpc current --format %file%), adding/removing from playlists (mpc addplaylist/delplaylist) and see files in a playlist (mpc playlist --format "%file%")

If MPD binds to anything Bluetooth, then we'll talk the MPD protocol over it.

But currently, it looks like there is no volunteer who wants to spend time implementing this.

What do you mean by that? I'm happy to showcase my embedded remote control device, if i get it to a presentable state today.

Ah, I'm so happy it doesn't get outright rejected though! ^^

MPD has a request/response protocol, you know that? Transmit that over Bluetooth, and a Bluetooth client can do anything that a TCP or Local socket client can do. Bluetooth would just be another transport for the MPD protocol.
