Cannot edit view widgets

On hubnetweb.org in Authoring of a new model from scratch, switch to a role, right click on the view widget. It selects the view widget, but no menu pops up to allow editing. Double-clicking also didn't work to bring up the widget editor.

Edit to add: Other widgets show the menu and edit just fine. Occurred in Chromium and Firefox on Ubuntu.

The context menu and edit dialog for the view widget are intentionally disabled.

In NetLogo, view widgets manage simulation-specific settings such as dimensions, wrapping, and tick counters: only one such configuration should exist per simulation. However, HubNet-Web supports multiple roles, each with its own view widget but with a unique shared simulation. This makes it unclear how to handle a shared “edit view” modal without conflicting configurations.

As a workaround, HubNet-Web reads view settings directly from the .nlogo file at simulation runtime, instead of saving them to or loading them from .hnw.json.

Thanks, @omargfh. As a supplement to this, to inform future work:

When you upload a model to HNW, most information about the model is read from two places: The .nlogo file, and the companion JSON file. (At least for right now. We should probably just bundle the JSON stuff inside the new .nlogox format, now that we can.)

More than anything, the JSON serves as a place to encode information that didn't fit well into the old .nlogo format. As such, widget information is kind of on the borderline, because widgets are encoded in .nlogo files, but I wanted a widget serialization that was specific to HNW's capabilities, so widget information went into the JSON. The part that's especially borderline, though, is the bulk of the stuff that you set in the View widget. Most of what's in that widget's "Edit" dialog isn't actually about the View, but about the particular model.

As of right now, we read that model-wide "View information" out of the .nlogo's serialization of the View widget. We do that by loading up the .nlogo file, and then grabbing the information here for same-page (e.g. testing) clients, and here for remote clients.

This should change. First, HubNet Web currently provides no way of authoring this information. Secondly, because I find it a bit gross to pull this (and only this) information out of the "widgets" section of the model. So what I think the solution should look like:

• Add an option in the top controls of the authoring interface to pop open a dialog to set the model's "View information" (i.e. all this stuff that's in desktop's "Edit" dialog for Views that isn't actually relevant to Views)
• Store the model-wide "View information" at the top level of the JSON (i.e. as a sibling to things like onIterate)
  • Do not store it within roles or widgets
• Write this auxiliary information to that top-level location
• Read this auxiliary information from that top-level location
• Add an "Edit" dialog for View widgets, which will mostly only pertain to patch size/View dimensions
