Unable to start recording.

• no error in journal
• journal recognises attempt to stop recording when pressing keybinding
• journal does not recognises attempt to start recording when pressing keybinding
• changed keybinding and made sure they're not taken
• wsi & whisper work

Hi @phillw ,

Please, call wsi (or wsi -n if using a whisper.cpp server) from the command line (in an interactive zsh session) and see what the errors might be. Or instead, check the GNOME system logs (in Desktop press Windows/Command key and then type log.. to show the logs GNOME application).
Let me know what the error is and we will take it from there. Or if the issue is obvious from the logs, just jot a quick response to let me know what it was.

It seems I missed the fact that you are saying wsi works. Assuming that this means successful transcription with wsi from the command line, I would then suggest something, hopefully, more constructive. In the extension.js code, in the _OnSpeechInput() function, there are multiple commented out log() statements. Please, uncomment them temporarily, restart the GNOME shell and see the journal logs for the new, relevant messages. If needed, share them with me.
