SEB for Mac cannot open VMRC links

Describe the bug
The Safe Exam Browser now allows access to other applications on Mac. That's very cool! However, it does not currently seem to be possible to open other applications such as the VMware Remote Console using the corresponding links. The case is very similar to this one from the Windows version: SafeExamBrowser/seb-win-refactoring#1121

To Reproduce
Steps to reproduce the behavior:

1. Start an exam.
2. click on a link like this: "vmrc://[accesskey]@[host]/?moid=vm-id"
3. See error

Expected behavior
The browser can open vmrc links

Opening other applications using a custom URL scheme protocol currently isn't a use case SEB for macOS would support. We would need to investigate if this is possible at all. As we have a very long backlog, it's unlikely we can look into this anytime soon.

Also, the AAC Assessment Mode which is used for securely using third-party apps in exams in SEB for macOS is quite restrictive and won't work with all macOS apps. Did you try if that VMware Remote Console is generally working in AAC as an additional app?
