In the meantime, in case it's helpful for you, I believe this sample should build using the latest release candidate of Android Studio Meerkat without additional modification.

If you have any additional context you can add about what problems you're seeing when trying to build, please add them here. We'll help however we can, and we can use that context to inform better documentation
