Getting "fatal: malformed index info" when unstaging multiple files

I get this error when I unstage multiple files at the same time. If I unstage them one at a time, it works but that's annoying.

I'm on version 2.59.0 but it's been happening for a while (I don't remember which version it started in).

I'm getting the same issues since the latest version also, 2.59.2, when I unstage or stage folder instead of individuals files
