[Investigate] Is the current messaging + database overkill?

Look into if this architecture of controller (diff) -> jetstream -> backend -> postgres is overkill.

Because this app is just for fun, persistent storage for performance isn't really needed -- I still need to test the integration actually. It may make sense to make a deployment of it optional when creating an easy Helm installation method.
