Feature: scheduled change of background refresh

Hi,
to save battery I run the bluetooth heartbeat refresh during day time, but during the night I have it on "silent tune", to be sure to not miss smth.

It would be cool, if one could automate this e.g. during day time at a chosen time automatically switching to the previous chosen Dexcom transmitter, but changing automatically back at a certain time to silent tune for night time.

In my experience, Bluetooth is more reliable than Silent Tune. iOS can stop the silent tune for various reasons; when that happens, the app stops running. You’ll see a few “inactive” alerts, but if you don’t act on them, updates won’t resume until you reopen the app.

Bluetooth has a safety net: even if the app crashes or the phone restarts (e.g., after an update), it automatically resumes in the background.

That said, Bluetooth isn’t perfect. If the BT device battery is empty or is out of range, the app won’t update and you’ll get “app not running” alerts. Also, the heartbeat interval can add up to ~5 minutes of latency for updates/alarms.

Your request sparked a best-of-both-worlds idea: add a “Also use Silent Tune while charging” option for Bluetooth mode.
When the phone is plugged in, LoopFollow would keep Bluetooth running and also play Silent Tune in parallel. Benefits:
• Lower-latency updates/alarms while charging (often overnight)
• Bluetooth’s auto-resume reliability still in place if iOS stops the audio
• No extra phone-battery cost since it’s plugged in
When unplugged, it automatically returns to Bluetooth-only.
