Interest of adding a dynamic capability for Lineplots

I am interested in using ContEx in a streaming context and focussing on line plots (ie an x-y plot with a non-linear x scale). ContEx can render static, historical data. Could we build on top of ContEx such that ContEx would export the "dynamic" s ? With a bit JS, we could append them?

Hi @ndrean - it gets a bit tricky because usually the axes have to change as new data arrives. This requires a recalculation of all existing points so you end up sending the whole chart through anyway. Unless you have a huge amount of data, updating the chart in real-time generally performs ok - the sample code shows this for a Barchart, but the concept is the same. Take a look at https://github.com/mindok/contex-samples/blob/master/lib/contexsample_web/live/barchart_timer.ex (sorry - it's on an old version of LiveView so you may have to translate it a bit!)

@mindok Thks for your response. I used the compress: true flag in the WebSocket to limit the harm, but still 13kB. I will check your link.
