Find package on disk #86

@mottosso

Description

@mottosso

Goal

Facilitate rapid prototyping and exploration.

Motivation

I often publish a package and want to inspect the resulting files, sometimes to delete it (it was a mistake), other times to edit it (hey, it's in my local development area) and other times a package was installed from an external source (e.g. pip or scoop) and I'd like to know what was actually installed (e.g. did it work?).

Implementation

Find some command-line operation that prints or otherwise takes me to where a package lives.

$ rez find six
c:\users\marcus\packages\six\1.12\package.py # Request resolved as usual
$ rez find six-1.11
c:\users\marcus\packages\six\1.11\package.py
