Floccus + Boomarks Huge amount of notifications

I am using floocus in Firefox to automatically sync my tabs to nextcloud bookmarks. Whenever any tab is changed a new file is created in the Bookmarks folder and I get a notification that a new file was created. The only way to turn this behavious off that I can think of is turning off notifications for file creation and change which I do not want to do as I use it for other files.

Is there a more granular way to turn off the notifications just for bookmarks or have I missed something, I do not want to get flooded by notifications.

You should be able to turn off the auto-archival feature in the user settings (bottom left corner in the bookmarks app) to prevent the app from downloading each bookmark.

I'm Marcel and have been maintaining this software the last few years. I currently work for Nextcloud but maintain this app
in my free time, because it is not an official Nextcloud product. My day job at Nextcloud is pretty awesome but sadly leaves me with
less time for side projects like this one than I used to have.
I still try to answer all issues and if possible fix all bugs here, but it sometimes takes a while until I get to it.

I have checked. Automatic archival was not activated. Floccus does an automatic sync every 15 minutes. That´s when the notification happens. I can of course turn that off, but that would defeat the purpose of the whole system to a certain degree.

The Bookmarksfolder looks something like this

All those text messages have the content

Floccus does have a valid login. The sync successfully completes. Is there maybe another problem?

I have just realised that the notification only triggers if I change something in a tab where my nextcloud instance is open. Is it possible that bookmark or floccus tries to scrape the page and get´s an error because of a missing login???

I have deactivated the Privacy setting of Bookmarks that it tries to collect information about the websites. That seems to have fixed the notifications. Would it be a good idea to be able to add exceptions to that setting. That Bookmark tries to collect info about webpages except for a certain ones?

So, when you sync your tabs to Nextcloud Bookmarks, it will try to archive those tabs unless auto-archival is deactivated, if those tabs are of sites that need authentication, you will get errors in the archived files. There is some amount of error checking implemented, but not all errors can be prevented from ending up in created files. The root problem for you seems to be that the app still tries to archive the links even if you have disabled that (Disabling network access entirely correctly fixes this, but may not be desireable). This was fixed a while ago, but may not have been released for your nextcloud version. Which version of Nextcloud and Nextcloud Bookmarks do you have installed?

Auto Archival is and was deactivated.
I think the crux is that Bookmark tried to scrape info on my nextcloud instance and failed. I have now deactived the feature that Bookmark tries to gather info about the sites and the files (and notifications) vanished ...

Ok, that's good. Could you try toggling the Auto-Archival check box in the settings on and off again (and enable network access again just to check), perhaps that makes a difference?

I have turned the privacy data collection back on and the auto archival on and the notifactions come back.

Ah ok I understand. I reactivated the site crawling and turned the archival on and off again. Then I triggered a manual floccus sync and a file was generated in the bookmarks folder and a notification fired.

Then I recommend to keep the network access off for now and I will investigate why this happens.
