Both are package managers similar to Python's pip or Node.js's mpn.
vcpkg is C/C++ dependency manager from Microsoft Link
Conan is Decentralized, open-source (MIT), C/C++ package manager. Link

I guess my vote is that there are better uses of your time. There are still useful PRs in the original repo to be merged, etc.
