Immediate Crash of pLabel

Hello,
I am finding pLink a really great piece of software. I have an issue with pLabel where it will crash immediately running under windows 11. I am investigating what might be the cause but I wondered if anyone had any similar experience or whether there is a log file somewhere that I might get some clues from? The behaviour is that pLabel will open and show the GUI, but then instantly close. Any help much appreciated getting what is an excellent application running again.

I consulted users who run pLabel on Windows 11, and they report that pLabel works normally for them.

pLabel records some information from the previous session in the pLabel.ini file. If you obtained pLabel by installing pLink, you can find pLabel.ini file in the bin installation directory of pLink. Please try the following:

1. Open pLabel.ini with a text editor, delete the path after pLabelFile=, and then try launching pLabel again.
2. Alternatively, the simpler approach is to reinstall pLink. pLabel.ini and related files will be reset to their initial state.

Additionally, could you let me know what type of instrument generated your mass spectrometry data, for example, a Thermo Orbitrap or Astral?

sorry for late reply. The issue seemed to go away when we cut down the number of variable modifications in our searches. This had no real effect on the number of indentifications and so we were happy. We are using a timsTOF HT at the moment. Looking forward to a label free XLMS quantitative experiment soon. Many thanks for such useful software.

Both pLink3 and pLabel generally support multiple variable modifications. Please make sure to use the pConfig.exe plugin to add the correct modification format. Also note that modification names should not contain spaces or special characters.

Because our team is small, the development progress is not as rapid as we would like. However, label-free XL-MS quantitation is certainly important and is on our roadmap.

We're very pleased that you successfully ran pLink on timsTOF HT data. This is particularly valuable news, as this functionality is a new feature in pLink3.
