Help for adding Roboto-slab font

I am a newbie at coding css. I am trying to add the Roboto-slab font to Reader View.

It is probably the wrong syntax, but attached is what I have tried to add to Custom styling under options.

Any help or suggestions are appreciated.

You can add any font from the options page. Like:

body { 
  font-family: 'Roboto-slab' !important;
}

The issue is that the font must be known to your system. There is no way to load remote fonts. On desktop, first install the font globally.

Thank you so much for your quick reply. This is on a Samsung tablet. I have the ttf fonts in /fonts subdirectory under 'Internal storage'. Other applications such as my ebook reader can see those fonts. Do I need to specify that location in the code you supplied?

I added the code you supplied at the bottom of the 'Custom styling' block of code. I have also added the following at the bottom of the 'Font management' block of code:
Roboto: 'Roboto-slab', serif

Clicked the 'Save Options' button at the options page. Here is where it gets interesting. I must be doing something wrong, because now Reader view is only showing a sans serif font regardless of what font is selected at Aa in the left panel. Also very odd is the displayed text is an odd mixture of bold and normal sans serif font. Attached is a screenshot.

As a test, I installed Reader view in Firefox on my Linux desktop and inserted the code you gave in the options page on the extension. It works fine and gives me the correct Roboto-slab font. So this is an android specific issue.

More trouble shooting. I uninstalled and reinstalled the Reader view extension in android chrome. Then I added the code you supplied at the bottom of the 'Custom styling' block of code. That fixed the weird mixture of bold and normal sans serif font. However, Reader view is still showing a sans serif font regardless of what font is selected at Aa in the left panel.

If you use my method, it forces the font so the UI does not work anymore. The above method is preferred.

I have no idea. Most likely the browser on Samsung tablet does not read fonts from the directory or the name is different. The reader interface is like a normal HTML page and follows the same rules.

I think that is the answer. Android is certainly difficult compared to desktop. I need to be grateful for what is working. Reader view can display a generic serif font. That will have to be good enough.
