SSL error (12) on checkout/clone/fetch

libgit error (12): SSL error: unknown error

Since a few days now I get the above mentioned error when trying to clone (or fetch)
https://github.com/scummvm/scummvm

Funny enough, on the same page https://github.com/scummvm/scummvm-tools
works fine.

Btw: it always errors at 4%, can't go any further.

Ignoring SSL errors with "GIT_SSL_NO_VERIFY 1" doesn't help either.

Any advice please?

Would a new release compiled against the latest openssl version help?

Did you ever get anywhere with this? I'm seeing this when trying to clone too

Unfortunately not. I had the same issue at some point with one big project I test. I think this would require a new git client.
