Transfer to New Time

Dear Wallace team,

I’m currently using Wallace to model the ecological niche of a marine species. I successfully completed the modeling process using my occurrence data and environmental layers from Bio-Oracle (in raster format). However, I encountered a problem during the Transfer step.

The "Transfer to New Time" option appears unavailable (greyed out), and I am therefore unable to project my model to future climate scenarios.

Could you please help me understand why this option is not active?
What are the necessary steps or conditions to enable Transfer to New Time?

Hi Hilla,
The Transfer to New Time uses WorldClim data, so it is only available when you use the WorldClim Bioclims module to load environmental data [Env Data]. If you are using Bio-Oracle rasters, my guess is you used the User-Specified module, which would de-activate Transfer to New Time.
You can use Transfer to User Environments if you have past/future data from Bio-Oracle. Just be sure your new rasters are the same extent and resolution as the ones you built the model with, and they are named identically (if you uploaded bioclim01.tif, you also need to load a bioclim01.tif to transfer). But you can't build the model with Bio-Oracle rasters and then transfer with WorldClim data.

Hi Bethany, Thank you so much for the clarification! That makes perfect sense now — I did use the User-specified module with Bio-Oracle layers, which explains why the *Transfer to New Time* option was unavailable. I’ll try using the *Transfer to User Environments* module with my future Bio-Oracle rasters, making sure they match the resolution, extent, and layer names exactly. By the way, would it be possible to get variable importance values from the models? I noticed that Wallace provides the response curves, but I couldn't find a way to extract or visualize the variable importance scores. Thanks again for your help!
