Description
This system is a fully up-to-date Fedora 42 version... but the problem seems to exist in Fedora 41 and Fedora 43.
I'm an OLD solaris user who switched to Linux in the mid 1990s. As such, I got "used" to using the caps-lock key as an alternate ctrl key. This is where my problem resides.
Of all the window managers I've used, I like Window Maker the best and build frequently from a "git clone" of the WM repository at "git clone git://repo.or.cz/wmaker-crm.git".
Just recently (past 2–3 months) I have encountered a reversal of "setxkbmap -option ctrl:nocaps". This happens randomly... it seems to appear during Firefox usage... I'm still gathering info. I opened a bug with setxkbmap at bugzilla.redhat.com "https://bugzilla.redhat.com/show_bug.cgi?id=2368434".
Something is resetting the map. I ONLY use WM, I do not suspend or hibernate. The setxkbmap command is in my .bashrc so it resets itself whenever .bashrc runs.
I'm looking for clues, a culprit, a workaround and/or any help/hints/tips/suggestions to resolve this.
Could it be a WM problem? I don't know.
Please help.
Best regards,
George...
