This wiki is a open wiki that will provide more information about the 'lou & eddie' services also known as the MultiScreenToolkit (SMT)parts of the Springfield platform.

For most of the readers this will be one of the first wiki's you will read when you are interested in our project since we either told you to read it first or you made it by the way of one of the related websites/github pages. So its important to spend a few minutes to explain why Eddie and Lou are of such importance compared to the other repositories you can find in our github project.

As with all opensource projects there is a lot of room (within the licenses) to use Springfield in any way you like. It started as a video cms with features and services you would expect from such a product but the main reason why we as a company feel compelled to share it with the outside world for development is not because we feel the world needs a new cms but rather the MultiScreenToolKit that we developed on top of it.

Eddie and Lou are the 2 services that implement the toolkit and can be seen as a dividing line between two worlds. The first is the Springfield platform where all kinds of services reside that we feel are needed or handy when making multiscreen applications and the second one is where these multiscreen applications find their home. This is not uncommon in platforms for example the java platform has its servlets and applets and even html5 'applications' are running in a platform (browsers) that supply them with api's and support features allowing a split in developers world (very few people build their own browsers these days).
