I added a state_abb parameter to pull from state-level datasets (see commented below in the script for that code) before cleaning the data to help the function move faster (hopefully). It is still moving at glacial pace at times for me so welcome other suggestions.

I also paired down the column selections to help it move quicker (but feel free to let me know if there are any I dropped that still feel important - the big ones I was uncertain about were the original construction date and the floodproofed / primary residence indicators). I think they could be helpful but also don't want to get the function stuck on them.
