Simulation Setup

YCPjsteck edited this page Oct 25, 2021 · 4 revisions

The following instructions are for how to setup the dev environment for the simulation. These instructions are currently different than the educational game (both M&K and VR versions) as they each use different versions of Unity right now. It is suggested that you keep the educational game and simulation in separate project folders as to avoid breaking them.

  1. Download and install Unity Hub.
  2. In Unity Hub, go to Installs, click the Add button, and install Unity 2020.3.19.
  3. Log in to Unity Hub with your unity account
  4. Activate a license
  5. Download or clone the Github repository. Ensure that you are on the Fall-2021-Simulation-Branch branch.
  6. Download assets.zip and library.zip from Google Drive.
  7. Extract the contents of library.zip to ...\RadioTelescope.
  8. Extract the contents of assets.zip to ...\RadioTelescope\Assets.
  9. Add the project to Unity Hub by going to Projects, Add, and navigating to the project folder you downloaded.
  10. Open the project through Unity Hub and allow for assets and scripts to import. This can take a long time the first time it is done, even on more powerful computers.
  11. The project can also be opened by navigating to ...\RadioTelescope\Assets\Scenes and opening Simulator.unity.
