This repository contains defensive patent publications (also known as defensive prior art disclosures) related to rowing and open-hardware community.
These documents are intentionally placed into the public domain upon publication to establish prior art and prevent third parties from obtaining patents on the disclosed inventions or obvious variations thereof.
- Establish clear, dated prior art for innovative but non-patentable or non-patented features in rowing electronics, rowing software, and related intellectual property
- Enable the rowing and marine-electronics community to implement these ideas freely
- Block overly broad or trivial patent claims that could restrict innovation
All files in this repository are defensive publications.
They are not patent applications, not patent pending, and are explicitly dedicated to the public domain under CC0 1.0 Universal (see LICENSE).

Contributions of additional defensive disclosures are welcome. Please:
- Use clear, dated Markdown files
- Include broad “all variations” language
- Explicitly dedicate the work to the public domain
Pull requests will be reviewed and merged quickly if they follow the defensive-publication intent.
