This is needed to even build the latest cargo_metadata. I then ran out of steam for bumping cargo_metadata as its API changed quite a bit, but I figured we could land this preparation step anyway.
I can't quite tell whether the changes in
tests/integrations/basic-fail/Cargo.stdoutare harmless; the rest looks fine to me.
