Iteration One
Iteration 1 will see the development of an Android App which implements most of the basic features required of the app, and a stable platform from which the functionality which would make the app successful can be built upon. The core features for the first iteration are the ability to have a 'Wallet' of different currencies, which store balances and are able to have currencies transferred between, as well as the ability to check money transfer rates, preview what would be received and basic cultural overviews and phrasebooks.
The initial phase aims to have language and cultural info for the US, Spain and France (the 3 most visited countries worldwide) as well as Russia, China and Australia (the 3 countries represented on our development team).
To see more about how we aim to implement these, and the impact on the user experience, see our SRS
| Goal | Description |

| Add Wallets | Add a screen where the user can see their current currencies, easily judge what currencies they have and how much they currently hold. |

| Culture | Short articles which cover the main payment methods in each country, along with some of the basic cultural taboos to avoid, especially in circumstances surrounding money that are completed each day - like eating out |
| Phrasebooks | Small phrasebooks for different languages |
| Check Rates | Ability to check transfer rates and preview what the user would receive in the new currency |

| Data | Issue |
|---|---|
| 05/07/19 | Had numerous issues today - Lost the entire day of William as he had slept in, which was critical given he had been doing most of the work on programming the app. Additionally, the internet was causing many headaches for us, which meant it took an extremely long time to download the files some of us needed from GitHub. We also lost almost an hour of Nikita's time when he went to try and find Will. This could also lend itself to causing further issues in that we may have exhausted some of our non-technical tasks during this time. |
| 08/07/19 | More lost time, today with Nikita late and Leon having a fitness test, meaning we had a delayed start with trying to input the database queries into our app. Ethan's laptop is also having troubles connecting to the internet. The app uses the internet to access the database and thus runs quite slowly at times in our current location. |
| 10/07/19 | Becoming obvious our team doesn't quite have the best mix. Finding it difficult to find jobs for some people, yet we still have plenty of jobs in other fields which need to be done - we just don't have people with the right expertise for the right jobs. Additionally, Ethan's hardware is still having problems, so the wiki isn't quite finished - just need to add a last handful of photos. |
| Date | Completed Tasks |
|---|---|
| 05/07/19 | Research for Taboos and the Phrasebook have been completed. The graphical design for the app are also almost complete, as is the database. The app has a working base, including the rates checking and the wallet section is being worked on. |
| 08/07/19 | Wallets now display currencies with Names and Flags as well as the balance. Log-In works. Research for Financial Habits in foreign countries is complete. Some elements of the business plan have been started, as has some of the code documentation. No error messages or progress for log-in/changing menu yet, and no ability to log out, transfer funds, or access culture and phrasebook. |
| 10/07/19 | App is really starting to take shape - Culture section is operating fine, operating speeds are much quicker, and the settings screen is also working. Still lacking ability to complete transfers, access the phrasebook or sign out, but things are definitely looking good :) |
| Data | Keep | Problems | Try |
|---|---|---|---|
| 05/07/19 | We're doing well making sure everyone has a task to do. | The internet and our splitting of labour have probably been our weak points | Spending less time on things which are less critical to the app |
Our app also currently only involves transfers inside a single user’s set of wallets – the app is basically useless if there is not ability to transfer between users and no ability to make payments to businesses. This would need to be implemented before the app could be usable. Another major component of the project is the introduction of premium accounts. This feature would be a critical component to be implemented in the next iteration as it is a major part of making the app financially viable. Other features which could be useful would be the use of GPS, so that we can provide the right information based off location. Additionally, adding a map, potentially even with ATM and other important financial locations.
