My name is Valerie! I am currently a first generation college student majoring in computer science. I enjoy embedded systems, web development, and anything design (computer animation, computer graphics). I'm also currently looking into cybersecurity.
My goal with computer science is to take it in one of these 3 routes: frontend development, data science / data analysis, or project management.

I love being able to combine the concepts of design with tech. It is fun and fulfilling for me to see my work come to life on the screen. I've learned so much about human psychology and knowing what styles come aesthetically pleasing to the eye.

While different, I've fallen in love with data science and analysis for similar reasons. First, data analysis is similar to frontend development in the fact that I must create data visualizations and dashboards that clearly communicates a story to my audience. Second, while I could still create some data visualizations in data science maybe using scikit learn or seaborn, I fell in love with data science for the logic aspect.

And lastly, I've recently developed a fascination for project management. As I reflect more about my life, I've realized that I have a strength in time management, scheduling, and organization. I have always been a planner. Always being the first in my friend group to initiate hangouts, first to plan events, first to step up and lead a group project, etc. It made me realize... Why don't I use my natural strength and turn it into a career?! While I have minimal professional experience in project management as of right now, with my natural time management and leadership skills coupled with my technical skills, I am confident that I can make a successful project manager in no time with the right guidance!
Outside of tech, I enjoy:
- Going to the gym 💪
- Playing sports (volleyball & basketball) 🏐🏀
- Reading (fiction, fantasy, young adult, self help, etc.) 📚
- Playing video games 🎮
- Hanging out with friends and family 😆
- Content creation 🎥
- Psychology (especially child development & true crime) 🧠
I'm pretty much down for anything as long as I get to spend time with loved ones!
